Subject: midi recording problems with Alesis Qs6 & Aardvark 20/20+

I recently bought a killer music computer custom built. I have all the tools of the trade. The problem is now for some reason my system has a problem with midi recording. I use Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and I am using an Aardvark 20/20+ soundcard and an Alesis QS6 synthesizer. This is a multitimbral keyboard. Does anybody know if there are any certain settings in Cakewalk that I have to have set in order for this to work correctly? I had a music geek friend of mine tweek the daylights out of the system but to no avail. It will work for a while and then all of a sudden I can't get any sound out of the synth. It will play the songs, but I can't record. Then every once in a while it will play the wrong sounds or add reverb of some sort to all the patches. I want to get recording, but this is getting frustrating. My audio records fine..it's just the midi standing in my way now. Thanks for any suggestions.
