Subject: Approaching Publishers



I would like to ask if any songwriters out there have ever tried contacting publishers directly (i.e turning up at their offices or cold calling on the telephone) either in the UK or America; and have they had any success making appointments this way.
Also, does anyone know if any of the professional songwriting tipsheets are any good, or if they're just a rip off.
